Can Online Drumming Lessons Replace in-Person Classes?
Learning to play drums is a fun and rewarding experience. However, many aspiring drummers find it difficult to choose between in-person classes and online drumming lessons. While some people advocate for in-person classes, others believe that online drumming lessons are just as effective. In this blog post, we explore whether online drumming lessons can replace in-person classes. Advantages of in-person classes In-person classes offer many benefits that online drumming lessons cannot provide. For instance, students benefit from one-on-one interaction with their drum teacher. This personal interaction allows the teacher to identify and correct mistakes in real-time, making the learning process faster and more effective. In-person classes also provide access to equipment and facilities, such as drum sets and recording studios. This access allows students to practice on professional-grade equipment, which can improve their skills faster. Advantages of online drumming lessons Online drumming lessons offer several benefits that in-person classes cannot provide. Firstly, online drumming lessons offer convenience and flexibility. Students can learn from anywhere, at any time, and at their own pace. This convenience eliminates the need to travel to a physical location for classes. Online drumming lessons also offer access to a wider range of teachers and styles. Students can choose from a pool of teachers worldwide, allowing them to find the best fit for their learning style and goals. Can online drumming lessons replace in-person classes? The truth is, online drumming lessons cannot fully replace in-person classes. However, they can be an excellent supplement to in-person classes. While online drumming lessons offer convenience and flexibility, in-person classes offer personal interaction and access to professional-grade equipment. As a beginner drummer, you should consider a combination of in-person classes and online lessons to get the best of both worlds. At Ravebugs, we offer both options to ensure our students get the most out of their learning experience. At Ravebugs, we provide online drumming lessons suitable for beginners, intermediate and advanced drummers. Our lessons cover basic techniques, drum beats, rhythms, fills, and styles. We aim to help drummers of all levels refine their skills and attain their drumming goals. Visit our website at www.ravebugs.com or follow us on social media to learn more about our online drumming lessons. Our goal is to help you become the best drummer you can be. As a drummer, you don't need a lot to start off. Sure, there are some fancy drum sets out there that will make your neighbors green with envy, but all you really need is a few essentials to get started. Here are the 6 essentials every drummer needs to start off:
1. Drum sticks This is the obvious one. You can't play drums without drum sticks. There are many different types and sizes of drum sticks, but for beginners, I'd recommend a standard 5A size. It's the most versatile and commonly used size. 2. Practice pad A practice pad is a great tool for drummers to work on their technique and timing. You can get a simple pad with a rubber surface, or a more advanced pad with different playing surfaces and options. 3. Metronome A metronome is a device that clicks at a steady tempo to keep you in time. It's an essential tool for any musician, but especially for drummers who need to keep a steady beat. You can use a physical metronome or download an app on your phone. 4. Music stand A music stand is important for drummers who want to read sheet music or drum charts. It's also useful for holding your practice pad or metronome. 5. Drum key A drum key is necessary for tuning and adjusting your drum set. It's a simple tool that allows you to loosen or tighten the tension rods on your drum heads. 6. Ear protection Finally, it's important to protect your ears while playing drums. Drumming can be loud and can cause hearing damage over time. Ear plugs or noise-cancelling headphones are a must for any drummer. These 6 essentials are all you need to get started on your drumming journey. Of course, as you progress, you may want to invest in more gear, but for now, focus on these basics. And if you're looking for drum lessons for beginners, check out Ravebugs.com. We offer online drum lessons for all skill levels, so whether you're just starting out or you're a seasoned pro, we've got you covered. Thanks for reading, and happy drumming! Hello Drummers 🥁 Sir Paul McCartney turned 80 last week, and this got us thinking - what’s your favourite ever song that he’s been involved with? Is it the Frog Song (We All Stand Together)? Go on, admit it! 🐸 For Phill, it has to be Band on the Run (if we’re talking about Wings), but if we’re talking about The Beatles, it’s impossible to choose - though I know he does love In My Life (such a beautiful song). He has a distant boyhood memory of standing on the stage of the Congress Theatre in Eastbourne, singing and playing guitar to Mull of Kintyre, so that doesn’t stick out as a favourite! What’s your ultimate McCartney song? Have a great week, everyone! 🥁🥁🥁 #drums #drummer #drumming #drumlessons #music #practice #practicemakesperfect #drumkit #learning #lesson #musicteacher #musician #tuition #musictutor #skills #rehearsal #learn #eastbourne #afterschool #school #kids #children #adults #students #extracurricular #local #payasyougo Hello Drummers 🥁
You know how it is when you’re scrolling through social media, you get bombarded with memes, cartoons and inspirational quotes in every other post (not including those pesky ads as well of course!). Well, every so often, one comes along that speaks to you just a little bit more than the others, and this particular one (see the picture) is one of those. ‘In the middle of every difficulty lies opportunity’ - the wise words of Albert Einstein. When thinking about this with drumming, you can see that when you put in the time and effort to really get to grips with a difficult piece, breaking it down and unpicking all the parts, once you’ve ‘unlocked’ it, it gives you the opportunity to go further with your drumming and learn more. We like this mindset over here at Ravebugs HQ! Nothing worth doing was ever easy! Have a great week, everyone! 🥁🥁🥁 #drums #drummer #drumming #drumlessons #music #practice #practicemakesperfect #drumkit #learning #lesson #musicteacher #musician #tuition #musictutor #skills #rehearsal #learn #eastbourne #afterschool #school #kids #children #adults #students #extracurricular #local #payasyougo Hello Drummers 🥁
“Eat a live frog first thing in the morning, and nothing worse will happen to you for the rest of the day.” Yuck! Wise words from Mark Twain? He’s probably right, nothing worse could happen to you (or to the frog either, for that matter), but it’s still a difficult idea to um…swallow. Of course, he doesn’t really mean you should literally eat a live frog, more that if you’re talking about things that might be on your to-do list, you should do the most difficult one first, then all the rest will seem like a walk in the park. So, are you struggling with a difficult rudiment or exercise? Feeling the pressure to knuckle down to some plain old practice? Whatever it is you’re doing (and we, of course, hope that your drums bring you nothing but joy!), sometimes the best way is to just sit down at that kit and face what you need to get done - the rest of the day will be a breeze! Frog legs, anyone? 🐸 🍽 Have a great week, everyone! 🥁🥁🥁 #drums #drummer #drumming #drumlessons #music #practice #practicemakesperfect #drumkit #learning #lesson #musicteacher #musician #tuition #musictutor #skills #rehearsal #learn #eastbourne #afterschool #school #kids #children #adults #students #extracurricular #local #payasyougo Blog post for 03/05/2022

Did you know it’s Bjorn Ulvaeus’ birthday today? Seeing this online this morning got us talking about bands who have influenced us… It’s one of Phill’s greatest regrets that he wasn’t there at Eurovision in 1974 when ABBA won with ‘Waterloo’, especially as it was only up the road in Brighton! Let’s ignore the fact that Phill would’ve only been 9 at the time, and unlikely to have been allowed to travel on his own on the bus. So who has been your greatest musical influence, and why? Who makes you want to get behind that drum kit (or any other instrument in fact!) and play your heart out? If you ask Phill and he’s feeling cool, he’ll probably tell you it’s the Foo Fighters or Rush, but really I think it just might be ABBA… I’m glad to say he’s not got a sparkly unitard in tribute though! Have a great week, everyone! 🥁🥁🥁 |
